Grandmaster Pope started training in Taekwondo in 1973 in his native country of Argentina. He achieved the rank of black belt in 1979. At that time he was doing his military service and needed to ask for special permission from his commanding officers to attend his black belt testing.
Since Achieving his first Dan Black Belt in 1979 he has dedicated his life to teaching both children and adults. He has achieved the current rank of 8th degree black belt from the late Grandmaster Pedro Florindo, earning the title of Grandmaster. Grandmaster Pope’s Motto is “We are capable of doing more than we think we are capable of doing.” Before moving to Wellington with his wife and 14 month old son, Grandmaster Pope owned a successful martial arts school in Plantation, Florida.
Grandmaster Pope has been teaching in the western community for 20 years but his martial arts career spans more than 50 years. Some of his competitive achievements include: Former Argentina National Champion, 1st place 1980 South American TKD Championship, 3rd place 1983 World TKD Championship, two time Champion of the J. Park International Tournament, 1999 Florida Winter Cup Grand Champion, 3 time Florida State Champion 1999, 2000 and 2004, 1st place 2003 Atlantic Games, 3rd place 2004 AAU Nationals. After 14 years he returned to competition to achieve 2nd Place in the 2018 S. Fla. Battle of Champions and 1st Place 2018 USA Sport Karate Nationals.
